Accompanying Tim-Tams, Minties and Caramello Koalas yesterday came an unexpected gift from home – a copy of a book that lies in the specialized genre of “Jane Austen Fan Fiction”, although this one also adds the twist of claiming to be based on actual diaries found in a period desk (not a chance). is ‘s diary Pride and Prejudice from the viewpoint of its best supporting actor (and male protagonist) – Colin Firth à la Fitzwillian Darcy (or is it the other way around?).
Given that I just bought three books by Niall Ferguson at Terminal 5, I’m not entirely sure that I will dive into this one just yet, especially since I’m reliably informed that Mr Darcy turns out to be all-too-human in his rather rough treatment of other women and domestic servants. And, after all, I’m hanging out for the big-screen version of a much more interesting work in the same vein – Pride & Prejudice & Zombies – the Movie.
